Why Airport Transfers are a Better Alternative to Parking

When you’re going away for a relaxing holiday, the last thing you want is a stressful time getting to the airport, or worse, to spend the whole time you’re away worrying about where your car is parked. Unfortunately, with rising costs of airport parking and reports showing that some car parking companies are deceptive in what they sell, this can often be the case.

We’ve listed some of the benefits of airport transfers, and why parking at the airport may be best avoided, below.

Meet & Greet Companies

Meet & Greet is an ideal concept; drivers drop their car off directly at the airport terminal, where someone from the meet and greet company meets them and then drives the car to a secure facility, eliminating the hassle of transfer buses or finding a parking spot.

However, the ‘secure facilities’ advertised by some Meet & Greet companies are falsely advertised, as the BBC found when it conducted an independent review of Meet and Greet companies across several airports.

They found that despite advertising secure, gated facilities that are manned 24/7 with CCTV, several of the companies took the car to unsecure locations with no supervision and no CCTV in sight. They even recorded that one company’s employee even took the car to drive himself home!

Costly

Even people who choose to simply drive their car to a parking spot themselves can have an extremely negative experience, with airport parking costs currently so high that they can sometimes cost more than the flight itself! Parking at London City Airport, for example, can cost £315 for just a week’s worth of parking.
