Top 5 Beaches Throughout the UK
Although spring may have come around a little late this year, the summer is set to be a scorcher and a right treat for any holiday-goer. But deciding where to go on your hols can be a tough call, particularly seeing as you don’t want to waste the precious little time you might get off work or those sacred sunny weekends on a mediocre location.
Therefore, we here at Wyatt Coaches have picked out our favourite beaches in these British Isles you can visit and make the most of this summer.
Watergate Bay, Newquay
A world famous destination for surfers, Newquay has gorgeous beaches and an awesome culture surrounding the surfer scene you can get stuck into. Keep an eye out for peregrine falcons circling overhead while taking a surfing or kiting lesson from the fantastic Extreme Academy you can find on the beach. From Newquay as well you are primely placed to visit other attractions Cornwall has to offer, including Land’s End and Porthcurno beach closeby to it.
Pembrokeshire, Wales
Choosing just one beach from the host of beaches on the South Wales coast would be an act of futility; there are too many beautiful places to choose from, it’d be well worth your time instead to make a note to visit them all over the course of your life. But if you were to start somewhere, the small seaside town of Tenby or the long expanse of Marloes Sands would be your best bet. Take in the thirteenth century walls at Tenby and see about sailing out to Caldey Island if the crowds get a little too much. Marloes Sands meanwhile provides you with a pure natural getaway, with its towering rocks and large rockpools, and its history of Hollywood appearances to tantalise you in (it was used as a shoot location for Snow White and the Huntsmen in 2011).
Blackpool, Lancashire
Probably the most well-known location on this list, Blackpool is the quintessential seaside town of the UK. The go-to destination once you’re there has to be the Blackpool Tower, from which you can see the entire bustling town below and even as far out as Manchester, the Isle of Man, the Lake District, Scotland and the Pennines on the best of days. Elsewhere, Blackpool is chockablock with various entertainment venues on offer, from your generic arcades to zoos, theatres to restaurants, there’s certainly something for everyone and getting bored is a difficult thing to accomplish.
Bamburgh, Northumberland
Not only can you find golden beaches stretching away into the distance and adrenaline-inducing waves for surfers at Bamburgh, but you will also find a Norman keep overlooking the bay, one of England’s best castles remaining today. The nearby Farne Islands are also accessible via boat from Seahouses, a scenic stroll of three miles further down the beach. Bamburgh is massive, so you’ll have no worries in doing whatever you want, be it kite flying, swimming, horse riding or dog walking, and there’ll never be a suffocating crowd to sap the enjoyment out of your day in the sun.
Runswick Bay, North Yorkshire
With Whitby nearby to visit as well, Runswick Bay is not only in a great spot to visit other areas of North Yorkshire but is also a beautiful sight in itself. There are pristine views from the cliffs of the sea and the coast stretching away to the north and south, while the walk down from the cliffs through the tangle of cottages and cafes offers the chance to indulge in a healthy lunch overlooking the beach. If you walk too far along the beach under the cliffs you’ll have to keep an eye on the tide times, but other than that you should be on the lookout for fossils along the beach.
