5 of the Best Halloween Events Across Yorkshire

It’s that time of the year again: summer’s been and gone, good weather was promised but rarely delivered, and September – the month from which we track the mercury’s steady but inevitable decline – is over. It’s not all doom and gloom, though; Halloween is on the horizon!

In fact, if Halloween delivers on its spooky promise, we should have some doom and gloom, but of the more cheery variety. So, to allow everyone in the North to prepare properly for the nation’s favourite autumnal holiday, this month, the team at Wyatt Coaches are bringing you the five best Halloween events across Yorkshire.

Pumpkin Festival at Cannon Hall Farm

Occurring between the 21st and 31st of October, the Pumpkin Festival at Cannon Hall in Barnsley is returning! Featuring a vast field, 10,000 pumpkins and the freedom to design your very own Halloween lantern – this certainly isn’t one to miss. What’s more, there will be a team of expert carvers at the festival to help bring your little one’s perfect pumpkin design to life.

This is a perfect event for the kids who perhaps aren’t ready for some of the larger scares that Yorkshire has to offer, making it an ideal day trip. Under twos go for free, and it’s £9.95 per person, however, every full price admission includes a free pumpkin!

Halloween at York Maze

So, maybe the pumpkin festival idea is doing it for you, but it needs a little something extra to win you over? Look no further than York Maze Halloween. You can expect pumpkins galore, a ride on Ghostmania, some treasures to be found on the Spooky Trail and an exciting meander round the Mystery Mineshaft Maze.

If that’s not enough, Halloween at York Maze offers the Phantomime family show (blurring the lines between horror and hilarious), Kernel Kernel’s Haunted House of Cornfusion, and all of your children’s favourite summer attractions will be open, too! There truly is something for everyone, you won’t want to miss out!

Yorkshire Scare Grounds

If it’s a real fright you’re looking for, then you might want to investigate somewhere like the Yorkshire Scare Grounds. Based around six extremely spooky but very well realised attractions – The Slaughterhouse, Zombie Outpost, Ghost Town, Hotel Hell, D.O.A and Jack’s Big Top – the Yorkshire Scare Grounds is not for the faint-hearted. The attraction is recommended for children of twelve and over, however, this is ultimately up to parents’/guardians’ discretion.

Stockeld Park

For a Halloween experience with a decidedly wintry edge, why not try Stockeld Park? Alongside regular thrills such as an illuminated maze, you can go Nordic skiing and skating on a real ice rink! Perfect if you want a little variety.

Burton Agnes Hall

Finally, if you would like a Halloween with some real autumnal flavour, then check out the Spooky Woodland Trail at Burton Agnes Hall. Visitors are invited on a hunt around the pastoral Burton Agnes woodland, with the aim of solving a puzzle amongst a classic Halloween backdrop.
