Bonfire Night 2016: Best Places to Visit in South Yorkshire

This year marks the 411th anniversary of the gunpowder plot, and as every year there’ll be bonfires up and down the country set alight to commemorate it. But why do you have to settle for the timid bonfire in the back garden or the slightly larger heap down at the local? Or the standard supermarket tub of fireworks? Instead, make a point of going somewhere more awe-inspiring.
Here you’ll find a list of just some of the brilliant places to visit in South Yorkshire this fifth of November. And remember, don’t put up with the aggro of having to get to and from events yourself – let Wyatt Coaches worry about getting you to your bonfire on time!
Cannon Hall Farm – Barnsley
The annual Bonfire Spectacular returns this year to Cannon Hall Farm in Barnsley on Sunday the 6th November. A full day of events awaits visitors, with full access to the farm, outdoor and indoor activities, and tractor rides throughout the day. There will be a DJ present and kids entertainment will be provided by the CopyCat Party Company. At 5.30pm the bonfire will begin, followed by an outstanding fireworks display at 6.30pm. Tickets are popular, regularly selling out, so be sure to get yours in early!
Manor Fields Park – Sheffield
In the heart of Sheffield is Manor Fields Park. Each and every year there is a beautiful fireworks display and bonfire for all the family to enjoy. Expect food stalls, fun fair, traditional sweets and much more besides. Attendance is free, but donations are more than welcome to help keep this tradition going.
Big Bang 2016 – Doncaster
Taking place on Friday the 4th of November is the Big Bang 2016, just a mile and a half from Doncaster town centre. There are two firework displays to enjoy – one for children at 7.30pm and the main event at 8.45pm – as well as Roger Tuby’s Fun Fair for everyone to enjoy, too. There will also be big screen entertainment and much, much more. Tickets are just £3 each and children under 1m in height get free entry. Like most bonfire events, this is a popular gig every year; book early to avoid disappointment!
Book a Coach to Avoid the Cold
Bonfires throughout the county are always popular events, which can make finding parking a bit of a chore. Combine that headache with having to pay for parking when you do find it, as well as having to drive your tired and cranky kids home yourself at the end of the night, it could end up spoiling an otherwise nice evening. Don’t get caught out; book a coach with Wyatt Coaches today. We can drop you off at bonfire events throughout the region and pick you up at the end, meaning you have absolutely nothing to worry about. Simply sit back and enjoy the fireworks!
