Top Events in London – May 2016
With the cold behind us it’s time to shed our winter coats and get stuck in to fresh activities up and down the country, and with two bank holidays coming up for us in May, we thought we’d put together a list of some of the most exciting things happening down London way this month.
London Craft Week – 3rd-7th May
Starting off the month, the London Craft Week returns this year for five days of arts and crafts activities with master craftsmen in various popular and hidden locations across the capital. From watchmaking to calligraphy, goldsmithing to leatherworking, the week is jam-packed with something for everyone of all abilities and interests.
National Pet Show – 7th-8th May
You can expect all the weird and wonderful of the pet world from the ultimate fair for pet owners in the UK. Channel 4’s Supervet, Prof. Noel Fitzpatrick, will be appearing as part of Eukanuba Supervet Live for a Q&A and insight into life at the famous Fitzpatrick Referrals, as well as loads of interactive and feature activities to sink your teeth into, including Hill’s School 4 Dogs.
Photo London – 19th-22nd May
Now in its second year, Photo London is back at Somerset House to showcase the world’s photographic talent. Working in collaboration with over 80 galleries from around the globe, and bringing together artists, exhibitors, dealers and the public to celebrate all things photography, this is the go-to destination for budding photographers and pros alike.
Spin – The Cycling Festival – 20th-22nd May
For all things cycling this month, Spin has you covered, with the best brands and the latest products and experts on hand to offer up the freshest cycling kit for the seasoned veteran or a comprehensive intro for beginners. And for those wanting to try out a shiny new bike, there’s even a test track to have a spin around on.
FA Cup Final – Saturday 21st May
This year’s final at Wembley sees Crystal Palace face off against Manchester United after the South London team beat Watford 2-1 last month. The fight the Red Devils have on their hands is to fend off Palace and secure their first major silverware since Fergie’s retirement.
RHS Chelsea Flower Show – 24th-28th May
Britain’s most prestigious flower show rolls out again for the last week in May, featuring all the latest in horticulture and garden design. There will be over 500 exhibitors at the annual fair this year, and serves as a great appetiser for the larger RHS Royal Hampton Court Palace Flower Show in July.
MCM London Comic Con – 27th-29th May
During the second bank holiday weekend of the month, London Comic Con, the UK’s biggest modern pop culture convention, kicks off once more, with a whole host of special guests ranging from the new Lara Croft and Grey’s Anatomy star, Camilla Luddington, to the casts of NCIS: Los Angeles and Lost Girl. There will be a variety of dealer stalls to wet your whistle as well as all the latest in gaming, manga, cosplay and film and TV. Surely not one to be missed.
