Set in a time where the country is reeling from the Suez Crisis, the part of Archie Rice was canonised by Laurence Olivier back in the day, but seeing what the Shakespearean master-actor has to bring to the role is a must for any diehard theatre-goer.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child – Palace Theatre, London

Dipping back into the world of Harry Potter twice this year, JK Rowling’s first new adventure for the world can only be found on the stage in London’s Palace Theatre: Harry Potter and the Cursed Child sees the story of Harry and co. pick up 19 years after we left off, with Harry working at the Ministry of Magic under boss Hermione, and all of the children of the original saga’s main characters attending the School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Billy Elliot – Palace Theatre, Manchester

The story of the young boy in the northern mining town in the midst of the 1984/5 strike who will do anything to see his dream come true comes to the Palace Theatre in Manchester this November. Time Magazine said this production was ‘the best musical of the decade’, making it one not to be missed.

Opera North – Multiple Locations, Including Leeds, Nottingham, Newcastle and Salford

Opera North are England’s most exciting opera company, committed to creating work of sublime quality that stuns audiences throughout the North of England. Towards the tail end of this year and into the new one, Opera North will be touring a number of different productions, including: Cinderella, Billy Budd, Il tabarro & Suor Angelica and Der Rosenkavalier. Ghost: The Musical – The Grand Theatre, Leeds

Sarah Harding makes her stage debut in this rendition of the classic Hollywood film by multi-Brit award winner Dave Stewart and Grammy award winner Glen Ballard.
